The doctors knew no mercy. No touring stress, zero stage action. For mastermind Fred Durst of the US stadium punk band Limp Bizkit, the pogo is over for now. Stupid for hundreds of thousands of fans, but the singer and part-time crossover rapper’s ailing health didn’t allow for half-baked compromises. Durst has been doomed to undergo a thorough body check.
Limp Bizkit announced via Instagram that “on medical advice, an immediate hiatus from touring is to be taken.” Durst himself released a statement via video clip on the band’s website. “In the run-up to the 2022 summer tour of the UK and Europe, I decided to have some tests done to make sure I was in good physical shape and everything was fine,” said the 51-year-old.
To his great astonishment, the senior doctor told him emphatically “that he doesn’t see that I could go on tour at this point in time”. Instead, the musician should stay within reach of his medical team to have additional examinations carried out if necessary. The musician, who also works as a director, did not give any further details in terms of health and not-so-health.
In the film, however, he politely apologizes to his many fans. He also has a cheer to offer: “I can hardly wait and I’m looking forward to making up for ALL of that as soon as possible.”
