Little has come of the prediction that we would be driving self-driving cars by 2020. But the technology has grown enormously recently, as Jean-François Gaillet, director of the Vias knowledge center, noted last month in San Francisco. In an interview, Gaillet talks about his adventures in autonomous cars, the advantages they have over human drivers, but also their working points. He also explains what needs to be done before self-driving cars guide you through the Brussels morning rush hour to the office.
