The exact cause of death of Wolfgang W., who was found dead in his house after the drama in Vieritz, is still unclear on day three after the end of the nervous crime thriller!
Did Wolfgang W. kill himself or was he hit by a police bullet when the house was stormed?
Public prosecutor Alexander NEUE, spokesman for the Potsdam public prosecutor’s office, said when asked: “We are at the beginning of a death investigation. The autopsy is completed. She is part of it. Ultimately, we still have no clarity as to how the man died.”
BZ information that Wolfgang W., who had barricaded himself in his apartment in the house in Vieritz for 35 hours, was initially hit in the arm by a police bullet, spokesman NEUER did not want to comment on. Nor whether W. killed himself with a shot from his weapon on Sunday morning, as BZ learned.
The youth welfare office wanted to take the six-year-old son out of the house on Friday afternoon because the parents had lost custody. The spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office also did not want to provide any information about the reasons.
A spokeswoman for the Havelland district commented on the reasons in the afternoon:
According to her, the youth welfare office had received several child protection reports long before the large-scale operation. However, the child’s parents did not allow any contact, whereupon the family court revoked custody after a trial. Finally, “the youth welfare office had a decision to release the child to the official guardian, which was to be implemented in coordination with the police due to the father’s willingness to use violence,” said a spokeswoman for the district about the background to the operation.
The district spokeswoman explained that the operation took into account that the father was aggressive and violent. “The child is doing well under the circumstances.”
As expected, the operation was extremely difficult: Wolfgang W. was armed to the teeth and “highly aggressive.” He barricaded himself in the house with his son, his wife and his brother Eugen W.. The drama began. Several special operations commandos tried in vain to get Wolfgang W. to give up.
There were also exchanges of gunfire between the police and W. in the house. On Sunday morning, W. was found dead in the attic of the house. He had previously let his son and his wife out of the house. His brother Eugen W., who was also armed, was overpowered and arrested by the police in front of the house in the garden on Saturday night.
