In recent days we have been treated to freezing air and snow showers in Belgium. On Monday snow fell mainly in the north of the country, on Wednesday it fell in the centre, south and east. The world was also shaking elsewhere. In Scandinavia, record temperatures of up to -43.6 °C were recently recorded and an Arctic Blast also caused strong winter weather in North America. At a time when we mainly talk about heat records, cold weather and snow seem like a strange phenomenon. How do you explain cold winters in a warming world? Climatologist Dr. Lander Van Tricht explains.
