How can creatives play a crucial role in the EU strategy for sustainable and circular textiles? (English)

Exclusive: The European Fashion Alliance (EFA) together with the Cabildo de Gran Canaria organized the first Gran Canaria Summit in October 2022.

Various leading moderators came together to define the first actions that contribute to a shared vision and mission in creating a better and more sustainable future in the fashion industry.

During the Summit, EFA organized a series of videos featuring various panel discussions or interviews highlighting the drivers of sustainability, positive change and the emerging talent shaping the future of the fashion industry.

In this video, Maria Luisa Martinez Diez (Global Fashion Agenda), Reet AUS PhD (AUS Design) and Jennie Rosen (Swedish Fashion Council) discuss how the recently launched EU Strategy for Circular and Sustainable Textiles aligns with other legislation in the sector. The implementation of this strategy represents a significant milestone in the EU, as it includes a number of incisive actions, putting Europe at the forefront of sustainability and circularity in the textile industry at government level. At the same time, the question of how this progressive plan can now be implemented on a global scale challenges the responsibility of several stakeholders – including consumers, businesses and governments.
