Rest assured that Putin can blindly point out Belgium on his strategic world map in the meantime. With both NATO’s headquarters in Evere and its command center in Casteau (near Mons), the most important military decisions against Russia will be made on Belgian soil in the coming weeks. And that is entirely coincidentally the result of an ego-burst of the then French president Charles de Gaulle in the 1960s. Because until then NATO was based in France.
