Berlin’s students should use less energy. A comment from BZ editor Isabel Pfannkuche.

Saving hot water and electricity – in itself a sensible consideration given the current energy crisis.

But anyone who has ever washed their hands in a school toilet knows that there is no hot water.

The Education Senate itself confirms “that Berlin schools often have no hot water at all, except in the gymnasiums and the showers there and in the school canteen area.”

So how do the children intend to save hot water when the majority of the time there is only an ice-cold stream coming out of the tap anyway?

And the impending Corona winter brings the dilemma for the few schools with hot water: wash hands virus-free or save. The same applies to ventilation: Open windows mean viruses, but also heat out…

It is already becoming apparent that these energy-saving measures cannot be implemented.
