The futsal players of Hovocubo have to do without Ilias Bouzit in the final matches. Last Friday, he tore his ankle ligaments in the game against Tigers Roermond. “We will not see them again in the short term”, Hovocubo coach Sander van Dijk is disappointed.
In the best-of-three series, the first final match against FC Eindhoven is scheduled for Friday at 8 p.m. The other matches will be played in Brabant. “Everything stands or falls with the first game. Of course we intend to win that game,” says Van Dijk.
Top teams
Hovocubo and FC Eindhoven have been among the top futsal players in the Netherlands for years. The teams have played against each other several times this season. Hovocubo won twice, lost twice and drew once. Both teams are therefore evenly matched.
In recent years, Hovocubo became champion of the Netherlands. Van Dijk’s men have therefore often chopped with this axe. “It is now about results. Not about development or beautiful football,” says a determined Van Dijk.
Restless preparation
Last Sunday, the semi-final game against Tigers Roermond was halted. That match would Wednesday be overtaken, but the Limburgers decided against that. “I don’t know the details about that. In the end we have a less pleasant preparation, but now the focus just has to be on playing that final,” said Van Dijk.
