HOVC, fighting against relegation, was clearly the boss, especially in terms of effectiveness, for champion candidate Helpman. The difference between the two teams was mainly expressed in figures by the team from Odoorn in terms of attack: 4-1.
Strikers Jelle Siekman and Frank Fokke, both two goals, were in excellent shape in the finish.
Equalizer from penalty kick
After fifteen minutes in the first half, the score was opened by Frank Fokke, by far the most striking player at HOVC. Fokke soloed through Helpman’s defense and then effectively rounded off: 1-0. Although Helpman came to the same level (1-1) through a used penalty kick from Huub Rudolphy, Siekman suddenly hit the mark for his team just before half-time: 2-1.
After the resumption, Helpman had the wind advantage on the bumpy field, but the team from Odoorn eventually took the win. Fokke and Siekman eventually determined the final score at 4-1 for HOVC.
Koploper also lost points
Because of this result, HOVC can no longer be found in a direct relegation place. However, the team of trainer Erik Smit will have to fight hard in the remainder of the competition to avoid relegation.
Despite the loss, Helpman is still a contender in the title fight. Leader Valthermond also lost two points and WKE ’16 already lost its competition game on Saturday. Valthermond has played with one game more, five points ahead of Helpman and two over WKE ’16.
