Project developer Van Wijnen and the owner of HoutCentrum Roden sawmill are still discussing how to prevent noise nuisance, but the municipality of Noordenveld has already given the green light for the construction of 22 apartments. The owner of the sawmill fears that there will be complaints about nuisance when Van Wijnen builds homes for mainly the elderly ‘in the backyard’ of the company.
Part of the council would have preferred to postpone the decision about the arrival of the apartments until after Van Wijnen and the Klok family (from the sawmill) had settled. According to alderman Jos Darwinkel (Municipal Interests), this is not necessary and the municipality must hurry with such projects because of the housing crisis.
The factions of Lijst Groen Noordenveld (LGN) and Lokaal Noordenveld therefore did not vote. “We would have preferred to take more time to prevent legal proceedings in the future,” said councilor Nelly Nieuwenhuizen (Lijst Groen Noordenveld). She did emphasize that she liked the plan herself.
Menne Kamminga (ChristenUnie) had also ‘granted more time’ to those involved, while colleague Free Hoving (VVD) is confident that both parties will find a solution anyway.
Alderman Darwinkel concluded by saying that the municipality of Noordenveld is ‘always prepared to mediate’. “A meeting is scheduled between the two parties next week, we will also provide feedback on that.”
