House shot at in Rotterdam residential area for third night in a row | NOW

A house in the Rotterdam district of Charlois was shot several times in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. It is the third night in a row that a house in the city has come under fire.

A house on Hellevoetstraat in the Charlois district was shot several times around 3.40 am, the police reported. A possible explosive device was also discovered at the property. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service (EOD) is investigating whether there is actually an explosive.

No injuries were reported as a result of the shelling. The residents of the building and people who live in the vicinity of the building have been temporarily accommodated in a reception location.

Earlier in the night there was a shooting incident on the Vuurplaat in the Feijenoord district. During the investigation into that incident, an officer fired a warning shot on Ellewoutsdijkstraat. No one has been arrested.

Two people were arrested at the intersection of Vuurplaat and Laan op Zuid. Their role is still under investigation.

Shot more homes last nights

Over the past few nights, several homes in Rotterdam have been shot at. This happened several times in the Charlois district.

In the night from Sunday to Monday, a house at the Nieuwehaven in the center of Rotterdam was already under fire. Last weekend there was also an explosion at the front door of a house on the Zuidhoek in the Charlois district. No one was injured.

In the night from Monday to Tuesday there was an incident on Teilingerstraat in the Noord district and a shooting and explosion on the Hoge Boezem in the Kralingen-Crooswijk district. A building on Voetjesstraat (also in the Charlois district) may have also been shot at at the time.

In addition, a house on the Acacia in Krimpen aan den IJssel came under fire. No one was injured.
