Currently, women who have an unwanted pregnancy can only have their pregnancy terminated in an abortion clinic, even if it involves a series of pills. D66, VVD, PvdA and GroenLinks submitted a proposal to change this.
Together the parties have 75 seats, just short of a majority. In a roll-call vote, 106 MPs voted in favor and 24 against the proposal.
The private member’s bill also still has to go through the Senate.
