The homes in Purmerend that were closed for two months after being hit by incendiary bombs and shelling are reopened. The residents can then return home. A house in Middenbeemster will remain boarded up for longer.
All four homes were closed for two months by order of the mayor after being targeted in a series of shootings and incendiaries.
It concerns one house on the Boeierstraat and two on the Weverstraat in Purmerend. A house in the street Groenveld in Middenbeemster was also closed. Those two months will end on June 17, when the wooden planks will be removed from the doors again. Except for one house.
Police information
The house on Groenveld in Middenbeemster will remain closed for a month longer. “The decisions were taken on the basis of police information,” the municipality of Purmerend said. “Furthermore, we cannot make any substantive announcements in connection with the ongoing investigation.”
The mayor closed this house in the Middenbeemster after it was hit by an explosive on the night of Friday 14 April. In a letter received by local residents who were not at home, which is in the hands of NH, it is stated that the explosion was caused by an incendiary bomb. The residents have been sleeping elsewhere ever since. An objection procedure against the closure order is underway.
