House in Wervik uninhabitable after fire, child and grandfather can escape

When firefighters arrived, the house was completely enveloped in smoke. A fire was found in the kitchen, at the back of the house, which quickly spread to the roof. The kitchen burned out completely. A child and the grandfather were in the house at the time of the fire, but got out in time.

The house is temporarily uninhabitable. The local police, together with the city, provide shelter for those affected. No one was injured.
