House full of cannabis plants, baby and four adults sleep in only free room

A large cannabis nursery has been discovered in a house on the Vennenhof in Gastel. On the top floor of the house, almost all rooms were filled with cannabis plants. One small room was used as a bedroom for four adults and a baby. The police believe that the people there were not of their own free will.

The police discovered the nursery last Sunday evening. The four adults who were present in the house have been arrested for investigation. Due to the dangerous conditions in which they lived there, the police believe that there is a case of human trafficking or exploitation.

During the criminal investigation of the police, the human trafficking department will also investigate.

‘Roller shutters always closed’
Neighbors say they didn’t notice anything that happened in the house. “The shutters were always closed. I’ve never seen the people inside. Neither did the rest of the neighborhood,” says a local resident. “A month ago there were two children playing in front of the house, about seven or eight years old. But they were not there when the people were taken away by the police on Sunday.”

Another local resident recently saw how a man behaved suspiciously around the house. “He was walking down the street with a large shopping bag and was clearly looking for something. He ended up entering the garden of that house through the side.” Local residents would also have asked the owner of the building to take a look at the tenants, because they did not fully trust the situation.

The weed experiment must prevent situations such as in Gastel. In this episode of How…? we explain how it works:
