Not the entire coalition wants to increase the maximum prison sentence for manslaughter from 15 to 25 years, as the cabinet has proposed. D66 and ChristenUnie support a proposal from GroenLinks to set the maximum at twenty years. Like many other parties, the other coalition parties VVD and CDA do support the increase in sentences, it emerged during a parliamentary debate on Wednesday.
