Hour-long call: FC Bayern wanted Chelsea star

FC Bayern recently secured a lively speed dribbler in the person of Bryan Zaragoza. Apparently the Spaniard was not the only candidate in Munich. Chelsea FC is also said to have previously inquired about a possible star transfer.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, the record champions recently knocked on the door of the Blues to inquire about signing winger Mykhailo Mudryk. However, a quick rejection came from London.

According to the report, no serious negotiations were started and the talks were nothing more than a loose exchange. Nevertheless, the management levels of both clubs ultimately spent several hours on the phone with each other to discuss each other’s points of view.

Chelsea FC signed Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk for around 70 million euros in January 2023 after a spectacular transfer saga. In the negotiations, the six-time English champion only beat out Arsenal FC at the last minute, who had also previously tried very hard to get the Ukrainian jewel.

FC Bayern tackles Zaragoza six months earlier

Mudryk hasn’t really caught fire in the Premier League yet. In the current season he has three goals and three assists and is stuck in mid-table with his club.

In Munich, they reoriented themselves after Chelsea FC’s cancellation and quickly preferred the signing of Bryan Zaragoza in January. The 22-year-old Spaniard’s move had already been agreed with FC Granada at the beginning of December.

The youngster was actually only supposed to come to Munich in the summer. However, due to the tense injury situation, the Bayern bosses around CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and sports director Christoph Freund preferred the deal.

The Spanish international is now playing on loan on the Isar six months earlier. In addition to the transfer fee of around 13 million euros, FC Bayern is reportedly paying an additional loan fee of around five million euros for the six months.
