The hotel guests of Bastion Zaandam had probably imagined their morning differently, they were woken up this morning by a fire alarm. Soon the entire hotel was evacuated and guests were standing in the parking lot.
According to a hotel employee, the fourth floor was covered in smoke. “The alarm center went off. That’s why we had to evacuate, we don’t want to take any risks.” He could not estimate how many people ultimately stood outside.
After the fire brigade had checked everything inside, it became clear that little was wrong. The cause of the smoke development is not clear. Half an hour to 45 minutes after the report, all guests were allowed to enter again.
