The Berlin collector couple Ingrid and Thomas Jochheim remember their friendship with artist Wolf Vostell (1932-1998) on the occasion of the restoration of his sculpture on Rathenauplatz.

The street cruisers sparkle again!

The sculpture “Two Concrete Cadillacs in the Form of Naked Maja” by Wolf Vostell (1932–1998) at Rathenauplatz was restored for the third time. The work was installed for Berlin’s 750th anniversary celebrations in 1987. Wooden parts used in previous repair work were replaced with original Cadillac parts. Completely in the spirit of the artist.

The collector couple Ingrid (70) and Thomas Jochheim (74) are happy about the renovation. “Despite the unkempt lawn,” said Thomas Jochheim with a laugh. He says: “We met Wolf Vostell shortly before the sculpture was erected.”

A friendship developed that gave the Jochheims around 60 Vostell works. While still on his deathbed, the artist designed a ceramic plate as a gift for the couple’s silver wedding anniversary.
