Charles Dickens atmosphere
On Tuesday, December 12, the Christmas lights above the Dobbeplas will be switched on at 6:15 PM. Mayor Michel Bezuijen then presses the button to light the tree. The lights parade starts from the Markt, via the Marseillepad to the Dorpsstraat, where candle evening starts at 6.30 pm. The shopkeepers decorate the shop windows with lights and there are choirs and Charles Dickens figures that create the Christmas atmosphere. You can get hot treats from the stalls in the shopping street.
Decorate your bike
During the lights parade, children (4-10 years) can ride along on their decorated go-kart, bicycle or scooter. A prize can be won for the most beautifully decorated carriages. The light parade runs from the Market to the square at the Silvester children’s bookstore in the Dorpsstraat. You can register via [email protected] and you can pick up the participation form at 6 p.m. from the organization on the Market.
