The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced that it has approved the countries that will host the Men’s 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments.
According to the statement made by FIBA, following the approval of the Executive Committee, the organizations will be hosted by Greece (Piraeus), Latvia (Riga), Puerto Rico (San Juan) and Spain (Valencia).
A total of 24 teams will compete in four separate tournaments between 2-7 July 2024.
19 from the FIBA 2023 Basketball World Cup hosted by the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia; The 5 winning teams from the FIBA Olympic Preliminary Tournaments had the right to compete in the qualifiers.
4 teams from the qualifiers will participate in the 2024 Olympic Games to be hosted in Paris. In addition to the host France, 7 teams from the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup had already received quotas for the Olympics.
The draws for the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifications Tournament will be held today at 21.00 GMT at FIBA’s headquarters, Patrick Baumann Basketball House in Switzerland. The draw ceremony will be broadcast live on FIBA’s YouTube and Facebook channels.
