During a performance by the West Frisian band Oôs Joôs at Argos in De Weere, the roof did not go off, but the floor. At the end of the performance, the hopping crowd turned out to be just a bit too heavy for the wooden floor, causing it to drop about thirty centimeters on the side of the stage. The performance was canceled early as a precaution.
“It happened during the last set. Everyone was dancing and singing very enthusiastically and then suddenly they dropped a lot,” says singer Edwin de Weerd, better known as Kleine Gertje.
At first he didn’t realize what was going on until he saw volunteers waving from the side to the band: “They gestured for us to stop. We did that immediately. At first we couldn’t believe what had happened, but it really was,” said the singer.

The public also did not immediately notice that the floor had come down a bit. “Of course everyone had also had some beers and was excited. After we stopped playing, the light went on and everyone went outside. It all went very smoothly.”
The building is managed by the municipality and the youth association that is housed in the building had already indicated that the floor had seen better days. “Well, that really turned out to be the case,” said De Weerd.
He is relieved that no one was injured and is already looking forward to the next performance of the band. “That is next week at a neighborhood party in Bovenkarspel. Then we just play outside, so we don’t have to worry that the same thing will happen,” he jokes.
