Hospitals in financial trouble due to price increases. Isala Meppel: ‘No reason to panic’

Several hospitals threaten to run into financial problems this year due to the increased purchasing costs of, among other things, energy and food. This is apparent from a study by Intrakoop, the healthcare purchasing organization, and the Dutch Association of Hospitals (NVZ). The situation threatens to prevent hospitals from being able to make certain necessary investments, the organizations warn. According to Eveline Henneke, spokesperson for Isala, there is no reason to panic: “We are also seeing the increase in energy costs. We focus on measures that can reduce consumption as much as possible. The gasless hospital in Meppel is a good example of this.”
