Hospitality training on the rise at Ter Groene Poorte
Two days before the start of the new school year, registrations at the Ter Groene Poorte hotel school in Bruges keep coming in. One of them is Samuel. He’s coming to register with his father today. “Samuel, for example, would like to serve in the dining room. The catering industry also begs for new staff. There is certainly job security for him and that is certainly an argument for us,” says his father.
Hospitality training courses popular
The hotel training in particular proves to be very popular, to such an extent that the school is quickly setting up new kitchen classes. “Last year we had an increase of 5 percent and then we started with 1,022 students. This year we see another increase of 5 percent. We will start with 1,054 students,” explains general director Iris Cornette.
The popularity of the courses in Ter Groene Poorte is also reflected in the boarding school. That has been completely full for several weeks. Anyone who still wants a room now will get a spot on the waiting list.
