Horst commemorates Guus (21) stabbed to death with silent journey | 1Limburg

Friends of Guus Janssen (21) from Horst will hold a silent tour for him on Thursday evening, through the village. The twenty-something was killed on Monday in a stabbing on Lambertusplein.

The group of friends wants to keep him in mind and show how much loved he was.

Torches at sports park
The tour starts at 19:00 at Boscafé Het Maasdal, where Guus worked. Along the way, a stop is made at the Wittenhorst football club. There he played in the eleventh team. Torches are lit at the sports park. The tour ends on Lambertusplein in the center of Horst, where the fatal stabbing took place on Monday evening.

appease a fight
It went wrong on Monday evening around 7:30 pm. When Guus wanted to calm an argument, he was stabbed. The emergency services rushed out en masse. The victim was still being resuscitated, but help was to no avail.

A 19-year-old suspect from Tienray has been arrested for the stabbing. He is suspected of manslaughter. Justice thinks that Guus was deliberately killed. The suspect will be presented to the examining magistrate on Friday.

Campaigns parties adjusted
The political parties in Horst aan de Maas have jointly decided to adjust their campaigns for the municipal elections because of the incident. “The coming period should be about dealing with grief and finding comfort in each other. That is why we have decided to keep our campaigns sober this week,” they write in their joint statement. The political parties do not hold any public activities and do not post anything on social media.
