A horse got into trouble this afternoon at the Drenthe-Groningen provincial border. The animal ended up in a ditch and could not get out on its own.
The fire brigade had to come to the pasture between Paterswolde and Glimmen to get the horse out of the water. Several attempts failed, so a special crane was called in. In the end it turned out not to be necessary.
A last-ditch attempt to pull the animal onto the side was successful. A veterinarian will examine the horse.
