Horner has categorically denied the allegations.

According to the German newspaper Auto Motor und Sport the internal hearing of the commission of inquiry will take place on Friday and investigators are trying to complete the investigation “as quickly as possible” before the launch of the team which is scheduled for February 15th. A note from Red Bull Austria confirmed the internal investigation into Horner: “After becoming aware of the recent allegations, the company launched an independent investigation. The investigation, already underway, is being conducted by a specialized external lawyer. The company takes these matters extremely seriously and the investigation will be completed as soon as practicable. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”

Horner’s defenders say that the accusations are slander aimed at ousting him from the leadership position in Salzburg, the headquarters of the energy drinks company that lends its name to the F1 team, currently dominating with Max Verstappen at the wheel, winner of the last 3 World Championships . Horner has led the team since 2005, with a list of 7 drivers’ and 6 constructors’ titles.
