Horacio Beccaria: the engraver who breaks molds with color and form inaugurates the exhibition Create and Share – BRAND

What motivated you to study engraving at the National Schools of Fine Arts?

I was always interested in engraving as a form of artistic expression that combines technique and creativity. By taking the subject of engraving, I discovered the means to express myself. I trained at the National Schools of Fine Arts because they seemed to me to be the most prestigious and complete in the country.

What has your career been like as a teacher and as an artist?

I have had the opportunity to teach printmaking and printed art in different institutions, both public and private, and to share my knowledge and experiences with many students and colleagues. As an artist, I have participated in numerous salons and exhibitions, both national and international, and have obtained several awards and recognitions that have encouraged me to continue working and experimenting.

What can you tell us about your new series of prints that you present in this exhibition?

It is a series that explores the use of color and form in engraving, seeking to break with traditional schemes and create its own contemporary language. Some of the works are large format, which represents a technical and aesthetic challenge. I was inspired by pop culture and images of everyday life, trying to capture its dynamism and diversity, capturing it with bright colors.

What do you think of Julio Sapollnik’s assessment of your work, the curator of the “Create and Share” exhibition?

I feel very honored and grateful for the words of Julio Sapollnik, who is a great specialist and art critic. He has highlighted my craft of carving with a gouge, which is a tool that allows me to achieve great precision and variety of effects in wood. He has also highlighted my ability to unite form with color, which is something that I have always sought in my work, without pigeonholing myself into a discipline or style.

When and where can we see the “Create and Share” exhibition?

The opening of the exhibition will be on October 5 at the Hoy en el Arte Gallery, Juncal 848 Capital Federal and will run until October 26. I invite you to visit it.
