“Hopefully they don’t really want to see that”

Artificial intelligence enables new kinds of experiences also with porn, but the development of technology has its risks.

American Steven Jones ran numerous different porn sites at the beginning of the millennium, earning half a million dollars a month from his business.

However, revenue took a sharp decline as ad-supported free sites like Pornhub grew in popularity, and by 2013, it was all gone.

Interviewed by the Washington Post, Jones found his way back into the world of porn sites thanks to artificial intelligence. His new site allows users to generate whatever pornographic footage they want and make their fantasies come true, as Jones puts it. 1.6 million images have already been created using Jones’ tool.

Although Jones sees AI porn as an ethical alternative to a world where people are pressured and hurt, he was shocked by what he saw.

– I see users writing certain things and I hope they are just testing the AI model, like us. I hope they don’t really want to see that kind of material, Jones horrified to the Washington Post.

Jones says his company is trying to prevent its 500,000 users from generating questionable images by, among other things, banning certain keywords.

However, it has been possible to circumvent the protection mechanisms built into artificial intelligence, and banning even a thousand words has not prevented users from creating unwanted content.

Porn’s “Holy Grail”

Jones says that after the pictures there will be porn videos generated by artificial intelligence, which he considers the “Holy Grail” of the porn industry.

After the videos, you will see interactive porn content created by artificial intelligence, with which the user can interact. Jones believes that such content will be available within two years.

Multiple choice a safer solution?

The owner of a competing AI porn site Peter Acworth told the Washington Post that he approaches the tools with a slightly different method.

– We don’t let users write what kind of porn they would like to see, he stated.

Instead of just trying to block certain words, Acworth’s company has found it safer to offer users only a multiple-choice tool.

– In the way that these are things I want to see and I would like this kind of person for it, he explains.

Difficult to avoid abuse

Real adult entertainment stars have tried to benefit from artificial intelligence, for example by offering their digital clones for use on new platforms. However, the direction of the development worries industry professionals.

Head of the Elevated X management agency for adult entertainment actors Heather Knox stated to the Washington Post that AI cannot replace a real human actor.

– Those who claim otherwise don’t know what the Actors really do, Knox said.

– But this technology will become more common. However, it will be abused before it becomes useful, Knox continued.
