Hope for BVB? Erling Haaland gives injury update

When will Erling Haaland return to the pitch? This question is currently occupying Borussia Dortmund and the club’s environment. Now the BVB superstar has personally commented on his situation and at least shed some light on it.

“It looks good. I’m already training very well again,” said Erling Haaland in an interview with “Sky” and the Norwegian TV station “Viaplay Football” Confident: “I’ll be back soon.”

Statements that fuel BVB’s hope that the 21-year-old could be back in the top game against Bayer Leverkusen on February 6th.

The Norwegian was injured on Matchday 20 in a duel against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Borussia Dortmund did not then announce an exact diagnosis, but according to information from “Sky” and “Bild”, the international has torn a muscle fiber.

In a statement, the Dortmund team only spoke of “muscular problems, which, however, require treatment and further examinations in the coming days”.

BVB: Erling Haaland names a goal for his career

Haaland had already missed the black and yellow team twice in the first half of the season due to muscle injuries. During these two mandatory breaks, he missed a total of six league games, three Champions League games and the DFB Cup match against FC Ingolstadt. BVB lost four of these ten games without the exceptional striker. In the remaining 20 games of the season, Haaland scored 23 times in all competitions and prepared six goals.

“I can still improve in many things, but what I should improve is that I should be less injured,” explained Haaland. If he had to express a goal for 2022, or even his entire career, it would be: not to be injured. However, time-outs due to injuries are unfortunately part of it, are “good training for the psyche” and would increase his “hunger for success” even more.

Haaland also commented on his statements after the win against SC Freiburg when he accused BVB of putting pressure on him. “It just felt like it was time to say something. Now I don’t want to talk about it anymore. What’s been said is said.”
