Skater Bart Hoolwerf exchanges the marathon team of Jumbo-Visma for Team Reggeborgh. He wants to focus entirely on the mass start with coach Roy Boeve’s team. “The possibilities to do that are available at Reggeborgh,” says the 24-year-old skater.
Hoolwerf rode its first World Cup races on the mass start this winter. He won in Calgary. “I liked that so much that I decided to further develop myself and to train specifically for the mass start. My ambition is to qualify for a major final tournament such as a World Cup.”
He will continue to skate the marathons, especially if they fit into his schedule. Hoolwerf won the only marathon on natural ice in Noordlaren at the end of December. At Team Reggeborgh he becomes a teammate of his brother Evert and his cousin Willem Hoolwerf. “It’s really nice that I can now practice my profession with my family.”
