Hooglede takes measures to lower energy bills
This year, the additional cost for energy is estimated at almost 1 million euros, thanks to the extra measures that can be limited to 750,000 euros.
There’s no getting around it, energy bills are skyrocketing. The Municipality of Hooglede also sees the invoices rising month after month. To deal with this, a series of measures are taken. In almost every local or building of the municipality, the heating is set to 19 degrees. In addition, the lighting in and around the football fields is being reviewed and, where possible, equipped with motion detectors, so that the lighting is also automatically extinguished.
The central heating boilers in the Atalantahal and youth center De Vlinder were renewed and the heating control in the library was adjusted. In the police station, the central heating boiler was replaced by a condensing boiler, which means that savings of 30% can also be achieved there. The heating in the cultural center in Gits will also be equipped with a new control system, which means that 30% can be saved. In the coming weeks, the central heating boiler in the town hall in Gits, the JOC in Hooglede and the central heating scheme in the Social House in Hooglede will also be tackled. In addition, the lighting in the library was renewed with LED lighting and where there are still fluorescent lamps, they will also be replaced by LED lighting.
Solar panels
In addition, solar panels will be installed in the coming months at all locations of the after-school childcare, the Gulden Zonne, the technical service and the Sleedoorn on Sleihage.
In addition, the municipality calls on all associations to monitor their energy consumption closely. The heating is one degree lower and refrigerators that only contain drinks can be one degree higher. Finally, it is investigated to what extent certain rooms or buildings that are only used sporadically can be temporarily removed from the rental module. Without these measures, the estimated additional cost for energy this year is approximately 1 million euros, thanks to these measures this can be limited to 750,000 euros.
