A 32-year-old man from Hoogeveen was seriously injured this morning in an accident in Lemelerveld in Overijssel. Together with a 20-year-old woman from Heino, he crashed into a tree.
According to local residents, a car whizzed by at high speed, after which two dull explosions were heard. The car crashed into a tree, then a lamppost, and finally came to rest against another tree.
Firefighters had to free the couple from the car. The man and woman were rushed to hospital in Zwolle. It is not clear how the accident could have happened.
