FOOTBALL – vv Hoogeveen has drawn against Purmersteijn in the second game of the year in the Hoofdklasse A. In Purmerend, Nico Haak’s team did not go further than 2-2. With a win, the period title was certain, but that battle will now be decided next week. Closest attacker Be Quick 1887 has approached three points.
In the aftermath of storm Eunice, it was difficult for both parties to play football in Purmerend. Yet two goals were scored within ten minutes. The home team scored the opening goal, but not much later Raphael Ngendakumana tied the score again. Halfway through the first half, the striker scored his second goal of the game. Ngendakumana completed a pass from Noah Schuurman nicely by tapping the ball in behind the standing leg with a heel.
Hands of the goalkeeper
Just before half time, Purmersteijn was level again. Goalkeeper Jorn-Jan van de Beld made a handball just outside the edge of the sixteen-meter area and therefore gave up a free ball. This was shot low over the ground and then left Van de Beld without a chance.
In the second half, Hoogeveen kept pushing in the search for the winning goal. Levon van Dijk got the ball in front of his shoes from a corner and hit the spot. However, hands were found by the linesman and the goal was disallowed. Both sides failed to score after that. What was annoying for Hoogeveen was the failure of Ngendakumana. The top scorer grabbed his hamstrings midway through the second half and had to be substituted.
position
Despite the loss of points, Hoogeveen remains the leader in the standings of the Hoofdklasse A with 30 points from 13 games. Be Quick 1887 has come to three points and can still be a serious threat to Hoogeveen’s period title. Next week, Nico Haak’s team can compete against Alphense Boys, where one point is enough for the period.
