Hoogeveen loses topper with 5-0 and has lost the lead again

FOOTBALL – Hoogeveen has again had to distance itself from the lead in the Dutch big league. The team of trainer Nico Haak lost no chance at title competitor Be Quick 1887. In Haren it was no less than 5-0.

Due to the heavy defeat, Hoogeveen is now one point behind Be Quick. The Drenthe formation also has to look back, because number three SJC won 2-0 against Purmersteijn this afternoon. The club from Noordwijk has only one point less than Hoogeveen because of that victory. In addition, SJC played one game less.

Hoogeveen, which had won 3-0 against VV Emmen in the middle of the week, took on Be Quick with some adjustments. Partly because of the busy schedule, Haak had decided to give some of his players a rest. The guests were not inferior to Be Quick in the initial phase and forced a few chances. So Noah Schuurman could have scored, but his bet went wide.

A free kick broke the game open after 20 minutes. Daniël Teune shot the ball past the wall and keeper Jorn-Jan van de Beld: 1-0. After that goal, it was largely one-way traffic in the topper: Be Quick dominated and Hoogeveen hardly became dangerous. Just before the break, the Groningers doubled the score. Captain Djarni Leidelmeijer estimated a neat through pass to be worth: 2-0.

Decision

Shortly after the break, it went wrong again at Hoogeveen, which had already lost the injured Kjelt Engbers. After a failed attack by Be Quick, Teune shot his second of the afternoon into an abandoned goal. The 3-0 was also the final decision, because Hoogeveen was unable to fight back after that. Liewes made it 4-0 and in the final phase Kyron van der Kaap was also allowed to cheer. The Be Quick substitute used a penalty kick: 5-0.
