Four hits for and only one against; Hoogeveen knows what scoring is again. An unprecedented luxury for the team of trainer Stef Lamberink in the home game against ten football players from HSC’21.
Hoogeveen achieved its second victory in a row thanks to the large margin against the team from Haaksbergen. It now has the ‘safe’ place fourteen in its sights again. This weekend, the Hoogeveners may be able to add three more points to the total if they can take a 1-0 lead. It then had to hold out for almost 40 minutes, after the home match against Sparta Nijkerk was stopped due to an injury to substitute goalkeeper Bart de Weerd.
The third divisionist gets some color in his cheeks again. It was no surprise that with a 2-1 lead the guests found themselves with ten men. Midfielder Sten Brand fought hard against Emil Bijlsma. While many thought referee Lodeweegs would draw a yellow card, it immediately turned red. Before that, HSC’21 took the lead with a goal from a rebound from the post. Top scorer Arantis Roep took aim within fifteen minutes of playing football.
The home club showed resilience and turned the score around in no time. First, Jeroen Kamphuis released fellow player Tom Heerkes in front of the goal. The midfielder scored a simple goal in the far corner: 1-1. Four minutes later, Jim Veltmaat released Kamphuis in front of the HSC goal and the striker gave Hoogeveen the lead: 2-1. The team from Haaksbergen was upset and after more than half an hour took the next blow in the form of the red print.
The surplus for Hoogeveen initially seemed to have a paralyzing effect in the second half. The pace was very slow and there were very few full or half chances for either goal. “The football was shockingly bad after the break,” said Hoogeveen coach Stef Lamberink. “It was a restless game, but I was also happy that we stayed focused and hardly gave anything away. And four goals is of course not nothing.” Two substitutes more or less took care of the last two and late goals.
Giorgio Beltau responded attentively to a cross from Tom Heerkes with an excellent header: 3-1. “It was the will to score,” Beltau said after his hard header. He usually plays in defense in the Lamberink formation. Newcomer and football nomad with the beautiful football name Pedro Henrique Barbosa Alves was allowed to show up for his tenth club in seven seasons just before the end. He immediately showed his qualities. After a ball behind the defense of HSC’21, the Brazilian reacted attentively, but aimed the ball at the keeper. Beltau then placed the jet perfectly on Tom Heerkes, who with his second goal put Hoogeveen at 4-1.
The substitute left the Hoogeveen ‘Romario’ wanting more. “Next time I’ll score,” Barbosa Alves promised with a smile from ear to ear. Then he should get some more minutes from Lamberink, who has some comments about the globetrotter’s defensive qualities. “He can really play football and has a lot of attacking threat. However, he does not always understand our defensive game. We will see what he can bring us in the near future.”
