Hoogeveen has shelter places for more than 250 Ukrainian refugees

The municipality of Hoogeveen has completed the reception locations for Ukrainian refugees. It was previously announced that the WMD office is being prepared, but a total of eight locations are now available for more than 250 Ukrainians.

Refugees can immediately go to De Kroon, where Woonconcept has room for 24 people. The Nieuw Moscou stable farm has room for four people, while at Wijsterseweg 2 and 2B fifteen refugees can go. The municipality of Hoogeveen is furnishing the locations of Woonconcept aan De Snikke (four places), the WMD building (25 people) and Villa de Terp (sixteen people) with beds and other necessities.

Larger reception locations

The former office building of Domesta on Kortewijkstraat and the former domestic science school on Pesserstraat still need to be adapted to make them suitable for reception. In total, 75 and 100 refugees can be accommodated here, respectively. Residents have been informed by letter today.

Mayor Karel Loohuis: “The people, mostly women and children, have had to leave everything behind in Ukraine and may have been on their way for days. They need rest. We are very happy that we have found these locations and that the owners are willing to participate. We will do everything we can to set up these locations properly if that is not already the case.”
