Hoogeveen athlete Laura Prins wins Munnikenslagloop in Rouveen

The Hoogeveen runner Laura Prins became the winner of the 10,000 meters of the Munnikenslagloop in Rouveen in 37.24 minutes. On the line she had a lead of no less than 5 minutes on Christina Mulder (Nieuwleusen).

In the men’s competition, victory went to Erik Leusink (Staphorst). Leusink, just like Prins playing for the Hoogeveen club HAC’63, had a lead of 2.05 minutes on Erik Driesen (Vollenhove). The competition records at this distance again stood, despite an incentive bonus of 150 euros.

Both top times are now quite ‘aged’: Gerard Kappert already ran the fastest men’s time (29.39 minutes) in 1996. Two years later, Christine Toonstra set the women’s record (35.35 minutes).

In the half distance, the victory for the women went to Marije Veldman (Nieuwleusen, 20.28 minutes), with Tamara de Vries from Meppel second at a quarter of a minute.
