Synchronized swimmers Noortje and Bregje de Brouwer from Hoofddorp have definitively qualified for the Paris Olympic Games with fourth and second place at the World Championships in Doha. The international swimming federation World Aquatics announced this.
The 24-year-old twins finished fourth in the final technical performance at the World Championships in Doha last week. Then they won a historic silver medal in the free freestyle. Never before has the Netherlands won a medal at a World Championships in synchronized swimming. Together, these performances were more than sufficient for qualification.
The swimming association reported that six countries that had not previously qualified have received starting tickets for the duets in Paris 2024. The Netherlands is one of those six countries. The others are Britain, Greece, Israel, Ukraine and South Korea.
