Honoring Elizabeth’s memory in Finland

In Finland, a service will be organized in memory of Elizabeth, among other things.

After the death of Queen Elizabeth on Thursday, September 8, Britain was overcome with great sadness. People have gathered near Buckingham Palace with flowers and the period of mourning is scheduled to last until the funeral. The funeral will be held on September 19.

Finns have also experienced sadness due to Elizabeth’s passing. The British Embassy has announced that Finns can leave their personal condolence in a joint book during the beginning of the week. Condolences can be made at the British Embassy in Helsinki today, September 12, and tomorrow, September 13.

Complaints can be submitted between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. A photo ID must be included when submitting a complaint.

Common worship

Next Friday, September 16, a commemorative service open to all will be held in Helsinki Cathedral due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth. The service is organized by the Anglican Church of Finland together with the British Embassy.

Before the event begins, the condolence book collected for Queen Elizabeth will be opened to the public once more. The purpose of the event is to sing the British national anthem with new words. When King Charles came to power God Save The Queen is called God Save The King.

The choir of the Anglican Church of Finland is responsible for the music of the service.

In Britain, the Queen’s coffin has been transported to the Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh, from where it is supposed to continue its journey to London. On Monday, King Charles will attend an event where lords and other dignitaries will bid farewell to the late Queen.
