A homeless man collapsed during a police operation on April 20 and died in hospital on April 27. Now the homicide detective is investigating the case.

The police were called on April 20 for trespassing in the Brückenstrasse in Treptow-Köpenick.

Three homeless men were in the stairwell of a residential building: while two of the men left the stairwell when asked, the 39-year-old threw a glass bottle at the emergency services and kicked and hit them.

The police then sprayed tear gas and fixed the man, it was said. The drunk man then suffered from shortness of breath and lost consciousness and had to be resuscitatedn.

He died in a hospital on April 27, the police said.

The authorities then began a procedure to determine the cause of death, specifically to determine whether police action could have been a factor in the death. For this, the body was autopsied on May 3rd.
