Home trends: 5 spring trends from Paris

Lat the design fair Maison & Objet has just ended and has decreed the seasonal trends for the home. For 25 years, the Parisian appointment has been one of the most awaited by designers, interior designers and furniture enthusiasts, and it is an opportunity not only to get to know new emerging brands but above all to sum up the trends of the house of the future. Between new concepts of luxury, an ever stronger bond with nature and a return to the past thanks to the newly born passion of Millennials for vintage.

The 5 trends for the home of 2022

1. The new luxury

It was the main theme of the edition which ended on March 28 in Paris. The concept of “luxury” has changed and has lost its more classic value. Craftsmanship, high technology, references to pop culture with original colors or irreverent prints: all this is the new luxury.

“We live in a very hectic era and in a very particular historical moment, for this reason we all need to distinguish ourselves but also to give more importance to our emotions and our experiences and to give free rein to the imagination »declared Vincent Grégoire, trend hunter and founder of NellyRodi, trend agency for Maison & Objet. The new luxury evolves into Über Luxe: precious, highly artisanal and innovative, and the Lux Populis, born from the union between exclusivity and the pop world: fun, highly instagrammable and desirable for Gen Z.

2. The mauve color

Fair and trend hunters agree: mallow is among the colors of the season. And not just for the details but even for the most important furnishing objects, such as the sofa. Leaving aside the beiges, which have triumphed for years, in recent seasons the colored sofas are gaining more and more favor, even if in a very delicate palette. AND now it’s time for the mauve, and for the whole wide range of purples. Alternatively, pastel colors.

3. Nature

It is a huge source of inspiration that involves the sector in all its aspects. As the exhibition points out Elements of Nature conceived by cool hunter Élizabeth Leriche within the What’s New space of the fair, natural inspiration involves fabrics, colors but also the origin of raw materials. The cool hunter did indeed point out how attention to the environment is now maximum: in the choice of shades, which range from those of the earth to the infinite greens and blues, reminiscent of the sea and lakes.

Koselig: what is the Norwegian philosophy of life that enhances winter

An imperative that also involves the choice of extremely natural fabrics such as linen and cotton, and handmade in order to favor local craftsmanship following a supply chain that respects the environment. An attention that is also combined with the choice of other natural raw materials such as marble and wood.

4. The vintage you always like

Vintage shops are popular on social mediaeven those of modern furniture. A trend that Millennials really like who go around the cities to find pieces of the past to match their home. A return to the origins which, however, underlines the desire to create a unique and personal furniture. The most requested vintage? That of the seventies, made up of colors, patterns and curves.

5. Farewell to trends, long live the mix & match

Another trend emerges from the desire for vintage. That of customization through mix & match. Mix, match, buy from the second-hand dealer but also in series, create unique environments that tell who lives there is the real trend of the season. A trend-no-trend that mixes different atmospheres in the name of personality.
