Home searches in terror investigation: 7 suspects arrested

Seven suspects have been arrested. These are people from the Chechen environment who “were possibly preparing an attack in our country”. This would include supporters of IS. Three have Belgian nationality.

“There were no concrete locations yet to commit the attack, but the suspects did have a number of options. For example, there are NATO buildings,” the spokesperson for the federal prosecutor’s office told our editorial team.

“The house searches took place in Ostend, Roeselare, Wevelgem, Menen and Ghent. The suspects were radicalized in a short time and are now being interrogated. The investigating judge will decide on their possible detention.”
