Eintracht Frankfurt has moved further into the top half of the table thanks to the away win in the direct duel at TSG Hoffenheim. The Frankfurt team won 3:1 (3:1) in Sinsheim. Hosts TSG Hoffenheim took the lead early on through Maximilian Beier (3rd). Omar Marmoush (11th), Ansgar Knauff (23rd) and Ellyes Skhiri (45th + 3) scored for Eintracht before the break.
Even without dad Mario Götze and support Kevin Trapp, Eintracht Frankfurt broke its away ban. Before the southwest duel, Eintracht had not won 14 games away from home in a row.
Playmaker Götze was missing from the victory because he had become a father for the second time shortly before the game. Goalkeeper Trapp has to pass after the warm-up due to back problems. Jens Grahl stood between the posts for Trapp. Robin Koch led Eintracht onto the field as captain.
Hoffenheim and Frankfurt – things immediately got busy
Things immediately got going in front of 30,150 spectators in the sold-out Sinsheim Arena. TSG coach Pellegrino Matarazzo in his 100th Bundesliga game as head coach and Toppmöller were offered a lot in the duel between national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s former assistants.
After a mistake by TSG defense chief John Anthony Brooks, Fares Chaibi had Frankfurt’s lead after just 119 seconds, but was denied by Hoffenheim goalkeeper Oliver Baumann. Shortly afterwards, Baumann provided the preparatory work for Beier’s sixth goal of the season with a long goal kick, with which he was able to recommend himself to the national team again.
Hoffenheim’s defense is prone to errors
Just seven minutes later the whole thing was repeated on the other side. Marmoush used a long pass from Grahl – Brooks again missed the mark. In the 19th minute, Marmoush almost scored again, but Baumann was able to parry his header.
The defense of the hosts, who had to make do without star striker Andrej Kramaric, did not deserve their name. Knauff gave Eintracht, who face HJK Helsinki in the Conference League on Thursday, the lead after work from Chaibi.
Frankfurt turns the game around before the break
The Frankfurt team, who had only conceded five goals before the encounter, were anything but solid defensively. Grischa Prömel should have equalized (28′). On the other hand, Marmoush missed after a strong individual performance (37th). In stoppage time in the first half, ex-Cologne player Skhiri scored his first Bundesliga goal for Frankfurt.
At the start of the second half, Hoffenheim’s uncertainty Brooks was replaced by Kevin Akpoguma. TSG pushed for the connection, but nothing worthwhile came of it until the final phase.
