A new group joins the procession: the Ommegang of 1310. It evokes the arrival of the papal bull in 1310. This is a document from the highest ecclesiastical authority recognizing the veneration of the Holy Blood in Bruges.
The procession tells the whole story of the relic of the Holy Blood and how it ended up in Bruges. About 1,700 extras will participate during Bruges’ most beautiful day on Ascension Day, next year on May 9.
