Holy Blood Procession is back in the streets after 3 years

After three years of sitting still, it is once again a celebration in Voormezele near Ypres for the Holy Blood Procession. This is an annual tradition that takes place on the first Sunday after Pentecost. This time it’s even a double celebration. In addition to the seventieth anniversary of the blood procession itself, the working group is now fifty years old.

About 500 extras are present. The procession starts with a link to current events thanks to the dance ‘hope brings life’ in the theme of Ukraine. The procession is not only for the villagers, by the way. Guido and Reine-Marie come from Bergen, for example, so you don’t miss this event. “The blood procession here has attracted us for years. With that very nice weather, we said this morning: ‘Today we really want to go’ and we are very happy that we can be here,” said Reine-Marie.
