Holstein Kiel has extended the contract with Fiete Arp and Jonas Sterner. Shortly before the start of the second division top game against FC St. Pauli, the Störche announced that both the 24-year-old striker and the 21-year-old winger had signed until 2026. Both were only tied for the current season.
“Fiete Arp showed what footballing potential he has, especially at the end of the first half of the season,” said Kiel’s sports director Uwe Stöver. “He’s a great fit for us as a guy. We are therefore very pleased that he will continue to be part of our team.”
Arp was born in Bad Segeberg in Schleswig-Holstein and trained at HSV. After an unsuccessful stint at FC Bayern, the striker first moved to KSV on loan, where he has made 63 appearances so far. Arp has scored the most goals in a season this season, although he has not been able to take part since matchday 19 due to a torn tendon.
Homegrown Sterner for Holstein Kiel “a good example”
Stöver said about Sterner’s extension: “Jonas’ development is a good example of how the path from the NLZ to the licensing area at Holstein can run. And we are convinced that he can continue to develop in the coming years and take the next steps with us.”
The Husum native has played in Kiel’s youth team since 2016 and made it into the KSV professional squad in 2020. Sterner gradually increased his playing time in the current and previous seasons. Sterner is already making as many starting eleven appearances and about as many minutes as he did in the entire last season. Sterner has also found the net twice this season. In the last one there was one goal and one assist (all of Sterner’s performance data in Kiel).
