Several celebrities have expressed on social media that they are in shock after the Supreme Court decision. The 32-year-old singer Taylor Swift responded on Twitter to the news. “People have been fighting for decades for women to be able to make decisions about their own bodies. Today’s decision has robbed us of that. It terrifies me that after all these years we have ended up here again.”
Also Harry Styles made itself heard. “I sympathize with the people of the United States. Check how your friends are doing. Take care of each other. We’ll get through this together and the fight has only just begun. This is a dark day for America.” Kim Kardashian then responded on Instagram. The reality star made it clear that she is in shock after the Supreme Court decision. “In America, guns have more rights than women.”
Sophia Bush, known for her role in ‘One Tree Hill’, is concerned about the health of American women. “This is not about a life. This is about control.” Oscar winner Viola Davis let her know she is devastated. “Now more than ever we need to use our voice and strength! We, the people.” Eva Longoria in turn called the decision an “attack on women’s freedom”.
Billie Eilish reacted to the controversial decision during her performance at the British festival Glastonbury. “I think the song we’re going to perform is one of my favorites. It’s about the concept of power and that we must remember never to abuse our power,” he said during the show. “And today is a dark day for women in the US. I’m just going to say it because I can’t think about it any longer right now.”
‘Game of Thrones’ actress Sophie Turner let her know on social media that she is disappointed. “If the goal was to save lives, after all the shootings that have happened here in the United States, we would have a gun control law,” he said. “It’s not about saving lives. It is about control over the female body and about control of women’s rights. It’s just disgusting.”
Hailey Bieber made herself heard on her Instagram Stories. Justin Bieber’s wife shared a post from ‘Complex’ on her social media. “Wow… I’m speechless. This is a great loss and also a great disappointment. This is really, really, really scary.”
Also Jameela Jamil had something to say about the Supreme Court decision. “The past six years have been terrifying and they are somehow getting worse. These goddamn bastards know this doesn’t end abortion, it just ends safe abortion.” She continues: “Who is going to pay for all these unwanted babies? Who gives free health care to people who are forced to conceive?”
Singer Lizzo announced on Instagram that she will donate $500,000 to Planned Parenthood (an American non-profit organization that provides reproductive health and family planning). “The most important thing is to take action and make our voices heard. Organizations like this need money to continue providing their services to people affected by this ban.”
