Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in late February, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has attracted international attention. Thousands of fans are now demanding that Hollywood make a film about the 44-year-old politician. Jeremy Renner is set to star.
A user wrote on Twitter: “If the film is made, I think I would have the perfect actor.” Below is a comparison image of Selenskyj and Renner. Numerous other users posted pictures of this kind.
It’s hard not to notice that Renner and Zelenskyj bear a strong resemblance to each other. At 1.70 m, the Ukrainian President is a bit shorter than Renner, who is 1.75 m tall. However, both have deep-set eyes, short brown hair and a very similar jawline.
When the movie is made, and these days there always is, I think I have the perfect actor. @JeremyRennerare you in? #Zelensky,#VolodymyrZelensky,#Ukraine,#jeremyrenner pic.twitter.com/dcI2wF6w44

Renner previously portrayed a military hero in the 2008 film The Hurt Locker. Much of the imagery comparing Renner and the President of Ukraine uses images from this film.
But there was also contradiction: some users recalled that war is still raging in Ukraine. “Ukrainians are losing their lives and their homes and businesses are being destroyed, and we actually have people tweeting ‘Jeremy Renner should play Zelensky in the film about it !’” writes one. “It’s the most pathetic and distasteful thing to think of right now.”
Another wrote: “This is NOT the time to speculate about #JeremyRenner starring #PresidentZelensky in a Hollywood war movie. Renner is a gifted actor and a good man, but Zelenskyy is actually risking his life and that of his family, not on a stage. We should focus on the REALITY”.

In fact, the President of Ukraine is a former actor himself who only entered politics in 2019. Before that, he was known as a television comedian in Ukraine, playing a president of the country in the satirical show Servant of the People.
