Holiday traffic causes traffic jams on European roads. Second Black Saturday in France. It’s extra busy on these roads

People on their way to their holiday destination have to take traffic jams into account on a number of roads abroad. In France, for example, it is busy on the A7, the Autoroute du Soleil.

In a southerly direction at Valence there is 17 kilometers of traffic jam and the delay is one hour, the ANWB reports.

According to a spokesperson for the traffic service, it is gradually getting busier on foreign roads. “Especially on the A7 you see the crowds, but also at a number of tunnels in Austria and Switzerland.”

For example, holidaymakers in Switzerland driving on the A2 in the direction of the Gotthardtunnel must take into account waiting times of no less than two hours.

To Slovenia

Also on the road to Slovenia there is an hour’s traffic jam towards the Karawankentunnel. In southern Germany, there is also an hour delay on the A8 towards Salzburg due to 10 kilometers of traffic jam.

The ANWB expects that it will be very busy in France on Saturday on the roads to the south and that peak hours will be between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
